Be Consistent

Through our history of participating in different levels of business, owning a ranch (or two), and investing in other successful (and not so successful) businesses, we have learned a valuable lesson or two. One of the most important aspects of creating successful investments is consistency. If you cannot deliver a product or service consistently, eventually your business will suffer. Consumers are increasingly looking for convenience and reliability with trusted service and outcomes.

With this in mind, we aim to support slow, consistent growth, rather than creating unmanageable work situations for intensive periods of time to generate quick income. We are in it for the long haul. Coupled with our core beliefs of supporting families, being involved, managing holistically, and healing the soil, we realize that all of these aspects take time. We will not be able to generate meaningful, lasting changes and impacts by burning out.

The Problem: Bureaucracy?

As part of ensuring consistency in every aspect of our work, we believe in creating positive processes and procedures that allow for productive workflows and investments. This should not be mistaken for creating further bureaucracy. We develop these systems to simplify [linked to ‘Always Simplify’] processes, to create efficiency while minimizing duplication or superfluous management.

Developing these processes also encourages a level of trust, to ensure our investors, partners, and participants are aware of what they are getting from the beginning – setting realistic expectations, outcomes, growth, and returns. This ensures both the health of all individuals involved, but also allows for solid systems to be put in place that have the capacity to create meaningful shifts in the way a business grows.

The Problem: Changing the Mindset

We know how hard it can be to start a farm or agricultural business, and that no two days are ever the same. Consistency can sound foreign to those in the industry. However, at Ashfount Investments, consistency does not necessarily mean ‘simple’ or ‘boring’. It means developing healthy relationships with providers, suppliers, customers, and investors. We believe this is incredibly good for business, and can generate robust interest that is resilient to a changing climate in all its forms. It means that a customer is aware of the quality and regularity of their supply, while maximizing benefits for both parties.

Many producers and artisans lament at the word ‘consistency’ as it is associated with rigorous food standards that yield rows upon rows of identical shaped fruits. We rightly know that this is not how nature produces its bounty. Unfortunately, due to this association, many of these same artisans and producers lose out on the benefits of consistency, when blind-sided by the homogeneity so often required. We see a consistent, slower approach as the key for long-term survival, building a robust reputation, and setting up a production that is logical and efficient. This gives rise to possibilities.

The Problem: Changing the Mindset

We believe in creating positive processes that support slow, consistent, healthy growth, with the end goal of providing a service or a product that our consumers and business partners can rely on.

Building a Reputation

Consistency is key in building a solid reputation, and a good reputation can do a lot for business. These days, in the age of social media, where everyone can be a critic, those that are able to deliver consistent results will be more likely to generate repeat business. Consumer demands are higher than ever, but the power of a good word has equal merit in determining which businesses thrive. By building a reputation of consistency, of an ability to deliver, it becomes more possible to generate repeat business and word-of-mouth marketing. This is what sets our businesses apart from the competition.

Consistency in Values

Beyond delivering a consistent result to satiate consumer demand, building a reputation based on our core values is important to us. Behind every project we undertake, our set of beliefs and values are at the heart of it all. To us, it’s important to be recognised as leading in this arena, and ensuring that each of our projects meets with these standards. We feel passionately about regenerative farming, artisanal food companies, and farmers leading the way for a healthier future. Throughout our involvement in projects, our bottom line is our commitment to truly progressive, sustainable, and robust investments that align with our core values.

What does ‘Be Consistent’ mean to us?

At Ashfount Investments, consistency means delivering expectations and high quality standards at every level of our business. Whether that be the best chemical-free, regeneratively farmed produce brought to a local progressive restaurant, or delivering in-depth digital content through our online food and education platforms, consistency to us is synonymous with reliability and high-quality products. Consistency is the ability to provide a true alternative to commodified, large-scale business. Meeting with consumer demand, both in quality and deliverability, we can set ourselves apart and develop locally sustainable, robust communities with increased food security.

We believe in supporting the health and wellbeing of our staff, those involved with our projects, and those directly affected by them to ensure that our projects can grow steadily and healthily. By supporting our projects to support slow, consistent growth, the reliability and return of our investments is longer term, but with greater environmental, personal, and fiscal returns that are balanced with our climate.
